Women’s Anti-nuclear protest at Aldermaston on 28th June

header1Action AWE is a campaign to take action at the bomb factory at Aldermaston to protest against nuclear weapons.  It will continue from now until the general election in 2015 and WILPF is a supporting organisation .

On Friday June 28th women from WILPF and Women in Black will be outside Aldermaston when the workers are leaving the bomb factory at the end of Friday afternoon.

Cars full of women with appropriate placards and leaflets will drive down to Aldermaston to arrive in good time for the workers leaving.  Afterwards we will drive home.  Small affinity groups have already been doing this either when workers arrive in the morning or when they leave at the end of the day.   There is lots of information about actions on the AWE website.  There may be other opportunities later for an action at Aldermaston on a weekend.

We now have about a dozen WiB and WILPF women who have so far said that they want to do this and three cars with drivers available.

Can you join us?  You will not be blockading or doing anything for which you could be arrested simply alerting the workers to our views on what they are doing.  Please contact Sheila on 01689  837848 if you want a place in a car – or are available to drive.

JOIN US! Ground the Drones Protest 27th April 2013

WILPF members will be heading to RAF Waddington on Saturday 27th April to take action against drones. For more details please contact

Drones have become the latest weapon of choice in the so-called war on terror. Operated far away from conflict zones, drones make it much easier for politicians to launch military strikes and order extrajudicial assassinations without democratic oversight or accountability to the public.

Take Action: Join the Ground the Drones Protest Saturday 27 April 2013 at RAF Waddington

This spring, for the first time, Britain will begin operating remote-controlled unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or ‘drones’ from a new facility at the RAF military base in Waddington near Lincoln. This marks a critical expansion in Britain’s drones programme. The government will also double its number of armed Reaper drones in Afghanistan.

Drones are indiscriminate weapons of war that have been responsible for thousands of civilian deaths. Rather than expanding the UK’s arsenal, drones should be banned, just as landmines and cluster munitions were banned. Now is the time to stop the rise of drone warfare – before it is too late.

Take Action: Join the Ground the Drones Protest

We will assemble in Lincoln South Park at 12 noon for a march to RAF Waddington, the UK’s new centre of drone operations.
